Richard Mansir

Richard Mansir, after twenty years in the advertising industry as art director, copy writer and
account executive, quit to devote himself to literature and the fine arts. In his literary career he
has written and illustrated fifteen volumes many of wich are aimed at at ship modeling enthusiasts and history buffs. Mansir's paintings and limited edition prints hang ind many private collections
and museums. Mr.Mansir spent his early childhood at the home of his grandparents on Cape Cod,
moved on to Connecticut and then to Ohio. He studied there at the Cleveland Institute of Art, Ohio State University, Western Reserve University and finally completed graduate work at prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art in Michigan. He paid for his education as a seaman on Great Lakes freighters, as fisherman out of Gloucester, Massachusetts, as a paid crewman on a variety of yachts, and as mate of large sail training schooner. He moved to California in 1959 where he combined a commercial career with pursuit of his personal muse.
