Born in 1925 in a suburb in Sombor in what is now Serbia, Montenegro, Sava Stojkov's passion
for painting grew as a child. Spending most of his free time outside, nature became his greatest creative inspiration. In primary school, he was driven to capture the beauty of the natural environment in hopes of preserving all the wonders the world has to offer. Painting quickly became a need, and his work eventually led him to Belgrade where he studied and met great painters such as Antun Huter. Torn between painting and sculpting, Stojkov decided to dedicate himself to painting prior to starting a family. The tranquility and peace he experienced in married life is embedded within the serenity of his art work.
