Born in Naples, Italy in 1939, Francesco Tammaro studied at the Art
Institute of Naples. He currently teaches at the Artistic High School in
Sorrento. In 1979, he was included among other great artists in the "Great
Dictionary of Italian Contemporary Artists." In 1980, he was featured in The
New York Times after holding a one-man exhibition in New York City. Tammaro'
s paintings explore busy city life. Using a vast range of colors, he is able
to bring each canvas to life, portraying the hustle and bustle of crowded
markets and noisy sidewalk cafes. Tammaro's use of contrasting light and
shadow allows for precisely rendered figures. With Tammaro's distinctive
style and brilliant application of tones, his work has been seen in many
exhibitions in Italy and the world.
